One Stands Alone

This morning I needed to get my car off the road for snow removal - so with camera in hand, I decided to drive up to Frear Park again. Maybe I'd catch some kids on the hill again, or cross country skiers, or just a pretty landscape shot. On my drive through, this tree stood out for me - It is surrounded by so many other trees, but somehow, this one was just patiently waiting to be photographed. A strong survivor of the back to back snow storms (yesterday we had another); ice storm - and frigid northeast temperatures, it just patiently and stately stands there holding up the ice in a very pretty manner.

Another example of winter beauty.

Red Doors

Red Doors pretty much jump out out at you - but what do they mean?

They can mean energy - Feng Shui
They can mean you are welcome here.
They can be a sign of protection ~ you are safe here.

Through the Looking Glass

I'm very much a traditional-style art lover. I love traditional and old world architecture. I love paintings done by Monet. Traditional. A big round dot on a black canvas just doesn't have the wow factor. Modern and abstract art is a little difficult for me to get excited over. But, that doesn't mean I can't try to venture out and try to photograph something in an abstract kind of feel to it.

Through the Looking Glass is simply two mirrors put very close together at a slight angle to give a little illusion of depth. I converted the image to black and white because the color takes away from the continuity of the mirrors. Black and white allows more of the detail to show through.
